As a supplier of windows and doors for over 17 years across South Wales, one aspect of the products that is becoming more and more important for customers is energy efficiency.
Revisions the Building Regulations, specifically Part L (conservation of fuel and power) comes into effect on 1st October 2010 and these build on the move to a more energy efficient quality of product.
In the past, selecting energy efficient windows has often been difficult for consumers and it became clear that there was a need for guide lines.
To legally comply an installation company needs to know that the product they install can meet the 1.6 U value or C rating with the very best being an A rated or equivalent; there are a variety of methods available to determine this:
Securahome have taken the whole window U Value route, we have completely redesigned all our window products and are proud to announce, our new window range SecurAtherm Plus a revolutionary new window system which will achieve an A rated equivalent as standard on most designs, without compromising security and style .
All Securahome’s windows and doors sold after the 1st of October will qualify for a certification of compliance and this is accepted by FENSA our industry body responsible for the administration of the various schemes.
What is a U Value?
A U-Value is a measurement of insulation, in general the lower the value the more efficient the window as less heat is lost through the glass or frame!
